A projection mapping show on the building facades of Nantou Ancient City in Shenzhen, built on an AI-integrated production workflow in which AI took part in more than 90% of the content.

I managed the project and designed the pipeline. AI tools were still at an early and limited stage, so I broke the work down into steps they could handle reliably, produced the animation and the final composite, and defined a dedicated AI-assisted approach for each shot according to what it needed. Although I was not on the art team, I also gave the designers technical guidance on developing their design drafts with AI.

Generated elements

Characters and props were generated with Kling on green screen so they could be keyed cleanly into the composite; the fish-lantern dance was animated with Veo3.

From design to facade

Design drafts developed with AI under my technical guidance, each drawn to the outline of the two facades.

A school of fish lanterns

In the second half of the show, a whole school of fish lanterns swims across both buildings, built from 3D models a colleague made with Tripo 3D.

On site: the fish-lantern sequence.

On site

In the old-town square, the projection spills from the facades onto the ground around the audience.
